Your privacy, in plain English
Short version: HOTKEYS is built so that nothing you write ever leaves your device. Your replies live in your browser, and that’s where they stay. Here’s the longer version, without the jargon.
Who runs HOTKEYS
HOTKEYS is operated by jams.sh, London, United Kingdom. If anything on this page is unclear, you can get in touch any time at james@jams.sh.
What is collected
Nothing. There’s no sign-up, no analytics, no adverts and no tracking. HOTKEYS sets no cookies and loads nothing from other companies. The app is also set up so your browser refuses to send data anywhere else, so even by accident, your replies can’t leave the page.
What’s saved on your device
To remember your work between visits, HOTKEYS keeps a few things in your browser’s own storage. It’s like a notebook that only you can open:
- Your replies and categories, including pins, snippets and “ask me” questions.
- Your details, like your name, company and role, if you choose to add them.
- Your settings, such as text size and sound, and whether you’ve seen the tour.
- Your points and rank, plus this session’s stats, which disappear when you close the tab.
Because this is only here to make the app work, you won’t see a cookie banner. There’s nothing to consent to.
A few things to keep in mind
You might paste customer details into a reply. That’s fine, and it stays on your device, but please treat HOTKEYS like a notepad, not a safe. Anyone who can use your browser profile can see what’s in it.
The flip side is that if you clear your browser data or switch computers, your library goes with it, and it can’t be brought back, because no copy is ever held. Use Export library now and then to keep your own backup. It’s a plain text file, and you decide where it’s stored.
Where it’s hosted
The site is hosted on a server in the European Union. Like most web servers, it may keep basic logs, such as the time of a visit, the page requested and an IP address, to keep things secure and running smoothly. Those logs can’t include anything you type into the app, because that never reaches the server.
Other companies
None are involved. Even the font and icons are served from the same place as the app, so your browser doesn’t contact Google or anyone else. If you click a link to another site, such as jams.sh, that site has its own rules.
Your rights
Since HOTKEYS holds no of your personal data, there’s nothing to hand over, fix or delete. You’re in charge: Reset in the app, or clearing this site’s data in your browser, wipes everything.
If you send an email, your address is used only to reply, and the conversation is deleted once it’s sorted.
Bugs and suggestions
Found something that doesn’t work, or have an idea that would make HOTKEYS better? Email james@jams.sh and every message will be read.
If this changes
If the way HOTKEYS treats your data ever changes, this page and its date will be updated and its date first.
